Retirement Plan Advisor & Educator

Principal responsibilities:

• Business Development

a. Develop sales strategies consistent with overall goals and business objectives for the firm
b. Track and maintain sales goals, identify cross-selling opportunities, and employ consultative sales process
c. Maintain sales funnel; track new prospects and review incoming prospective plans
d. Follow up on new leads or warm prospects; use lead advisor to close plans as necessary
e. Develop plans for expanding centers of influence and strategic alliances; maximize opportunities and relationships

• Implementation and Servicing

a. Implement new plans, including the coordination of vendors and other parties
b. Oversee the process for the evaluation existing plans and the creation of recommendations for revisions
c. Field incoming calls/e-mails from plan sponsors and plan administrators regarding advice and recommendations when possible
d. Track and maintain compliance requirements for plans, when applicable
e. Work with plan sponsor, TPA, recordkeeper and other parties to ensure continual compliance within 401(k) plans
f. Schedule review meetings and new plan presentations
g. Input/update data to investment analytics system and analyze
h. Develop strong relationships with key contacts and employees
i. Troubleshoot issues on plans as necessary
j. Maintain data systems, including CRM, electronic and paper files

• Participant Education & Support

a. Schedule and coordinate participant meetings
b. Develop and present to plan participants at request of plan sponsor
c. Work one on one with participants to answer questions regarding plan during enrollment process; if research or service is necessary, assign action items to appropriate staff and oversee implementation, documentation, and communication with the participant/client
d. Be the first point of contact for the firm when providing ongoing financial support and education directly to participants. Present current plan information at participant enrollment meetings and conduct quarterly update meetings including topical educational seminars as scheduled
e. Identify resource materials for new and current participant educational and enrollment meetings

• Other

a. Manage vendor relationships
b. Stay current on industry and regulatory developments, service and product enhancements and vendor changes; communicate regulatory or industry developments to advisor and education specialist as needed
c. Continue education in advanced markets/financial literacy through industry, company, broker-dealer, and business resources
d. Make recommendations to systematize and improve firm operations and functioning

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies - Required

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of success in a sales or education role
• If not already held, obtaining FINRA Series 7 and 66 registrations within first year of employment
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc…) and the ability to learn new technology quickly
• Ability to persuade and create change
• Ability to communicate complex concepts in a manner individuals, from a broad range of backgrounds, can understand
• Energized by a fast-paced and changing environment
• Superior organizational skills
• Personability and enthusiasm
• Willingness and ability for day trips within a 100-mile radius of Greenville, SC
• Passion for education and improving the financial well-being of others

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies - Preferred

• Understanding of investment products
• Experience working in financial services, with a focus on 401(k)s and other retirement vehicles.
• Knowledge of the sales process for 401(k) plans and other retirement vehicles, retirement plan design experience and a strong understanding of financial products and plans
• Understanding of retirement plan rules, design, and compliance requirements
• Additional designations, such as the AIFฎ or CFPฎ and willingness to obtain
• Comfort with public speaking and presenting to large groups

• Initial annual salary range is $45,000 to $75,000, though exact salary and overall compensation package will be designed based on the successful candidate’s experience, capabilities and preferences.
