Summary of Duties
- The Accompanist Musician is responsible for assisting in developing a music ministry for the church that will complement the liturgy, the preaching, and the spirit of the people. Specific responsibilities include providing music for all worship services and directing all church singing units.
To Whom Responsible
- The Accompanist Musician is responsible to the Pastor. In the absence of the Pastor, the Accompanist Musician is responsible to the Minister of Music.
Responsibilities:
- To promote the spiritual growth, harmony and cohesiveness of the ministry through theological perspectives and Christian concepts.
- To assist in introducing, teaching, rehearsing, and maintaining at all times wellprepared repertoire of must for public presentation.
- To establish with appropriate church officers (Pastor, Administrative Assistant, choir members, and Accompanists) a time for regular scheduled rehearsals as needed.
- To assume authority to call special rehearsals, when necessary, in relationship to other activities (i.e. Church Anniversaries, cantatas, funerals, etc).
- Assist the Pastor and Minister of Music with other leaders in the selection of suitable music, and the devising of appropriate musical programs for all occasions where such services are needed.
- Assist choir officers in the execution of their respective duties when necessary.
- Attend musical workshops, seminars, retreats, or training sessions for the purpose of personal growth.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a neat and orderly fashion, along with reporting damage or malfunction of equipment for repair or replacement to the Minister of Music.
- To dress in the appropriate attire when at work (First impressions are lasting impressions).
- Assist in planning and facilitating a yearly training event for all persons of the church’s music ministry.
Expectations:
- Arrive to work on time (30-15 minutes prior to start time).
- Rehearsals
- Sunday AM services (Sunday School = Youth Training)
- Sunday PM services
- Funerals
- Accompany choirs.
- Anniversaries
- Cantatas (at least once a year)
- Revivals
- Retreats
- Meetings with Pastor/Worship Committee for selective music.
- Accompanying church family on an overnight trip. Travel and lodging will be paid as identified for the group.
Quarterly Performance Appraisal:
The Accompanist Musician will be evaluated quarterly by the Pastor and the Minister of Music.
Vacations:
Unpaid vacation with notification of two weeks in advance.
Absences:
Twenty-four-hour notice (if possible)
Salary Reviews:
Salary reviews will be done annually.
Salary: $13,000 – $15,600 based upon performance and skill level.
