Position Summary: 

We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineering Technician with experience in 3D printing and prototype assembly to support the design, development, and testing of FPV (First Person View) drone platforms. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the fabrication and integration of custom drone frames, wiring, electronic systems, and power distribution for rapid prototyping and field testing. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Operate and maintain 3D printers (FDM/SLA) to produce custom drone components and airframes.
  • Interpret CAD drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications for 3D printed drone parts.
  • Assemble FPV drone prototypes, including motors, ESCs, flight controllers, FPV systems, and power systems.
  • Perform soldering and wiring of electrical components with precision and attention to durability.
  • Troubleshoot and debug electrical systems and component-level issues during prototyping.
  • Assist engineers with test flights, data collection, and post-flight analysis.
  • Maintain a clean and organized prototyping lab, and manage inventory of parts and consumables.
  • Provide feedback to the engineering team to improve design iterations and performance.
  • Document all builds, modifications, and testing processes accurately.

Qualifications: 

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics assembly, drone, or robotics prototyping.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing, tuning slicer settings, and post-processing.
  • Proficient in soldering, wire routing, and assembling small electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with FPV drone components: flight controllers, ESCs, VTX, RX, LiPo batteries.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

Preferred: 

  • •Experience with CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks) for 3D modeling.
  • Knowledge of Betaflight, ArduPilot, or PX4-based systems.
  • Experience working in a defense, aerospace, or R&D environment.
  • FAA Part 107 certification is a plus and a bonus if you don’t have it but you would go through the course.
