Traffic Control Services Position Overview:
Traffic Control Company seeks an experienced Area Manager to drive field performance for our customers. This is a frontline operations leader for our Atlanta branch serving all of Georgia. You will manage and coach 2–3 supervisors and work directly with 60–80 field employees. Expect a high on-site presence: scheduling, job-site execution, safety, discipline, and margin management.

Core Responsibilities Frontline Leadership & People Operations
● Manage and coach 2–3 supervisors; maintain daily engagement with 60–80 employees in the field.
● Conduct ride-alongs, on-site coaching, and spot checks; step in on complex setups as needed.
● Handle discipline and documentation (verbal/written warnings, corrective action).
● Oversee timekeeping/payroll accuracy: verify hours, OT, travel pay, job codes, and approvals by cutoff.
● Recruit, hire, onboard, certify (Flagger/TCT/TCS), and drive training completion.
● Set clear expectations and decision rights; recognize performance and address gaps quickly.
Operations & Scheduling
● Own schedule/dispatch (early morning/days/nights/weekends) to hit on-time starts and proper staffing.
● Translate scopes/TCPs into executable plans compliant with MUTCD/GDOT.
● Balance utilization, overtime, and travel to meet demand while protecting margins.
● Ensure complete, accurate job tickets (hours, equipment, add-ons, minimums) for billing.
Customer & Field Coordination
● Primary operational contact for foremen/PMs/inspectors; resolve escalations with urgency.
● Identify upsell opportunities (equipment, additional crew, extended hours) and coordinate pricing with leadership.
● Stand up crews, stage equipment, communicate ETAs/status.
Financial & KPI Management
● Manage P&L levers: labor, travel, rentals/equipment, consumables.
● Track/improve KPIs: on-time starts, utilization %, OT %, cancel/no-show rate, safety, customer satisfaction, job margin.
● Forecast weekly staffing/equipment; support budgeting and capex requests.
Safety & Compliance
● Lead zero-incident culture: JSAs, toolbox talks, PPE, near-miss reporting.
● Ensure OSHA, MUTCD, GDOT, and local permit compliance.
● Investigate incidents; implement corrective actions and track safety KPIs.
Fleet, Yard & Inventory
● Maintain readiness/uptime for trucks, arrow boards, cones/signs/barricades.
● Coordinate preventive maintenance and DOT compliance.
Qualifications Industry Experience:
● 5+ years frontline operations/field services leadership (construction/utility/traffic control or similar).
● Experience managing supervisors and directly leading large field teams (50+ employees).
● Strong command of work zone safety and traffic control (MUTCD familiarity).
● Proficient with scheduling/dispatch tools and Excel/Sheets; comfortable with mobile workforce apps and timekeeping/payroll systems.
● Valid driver’s license with clean MVR; able to work irregular hours and travel statewide.
Compensation and Benefits:
● Salary: $75,000 – $90,000 annually based on experience and performance potential
