Position Summary:

The Early Elementary Teacher (1st – 4th Grade) is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and faith-centered learning environment for young students. This role blends academic enrichment with spiritual development, encouraging students to grow intellectually, socially, and spiritually through structured lessons, creative activities, and positive mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

◦ Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans in reading, writing, math, and enrichment activities

◦ Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

◦ Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement and developmentally appropriate strategies

◦ Lead daily devotionals, prayer, or faith-based discussions

◦ Monitor and assess student progress and provide feedback to program leadership and parents (if applicable)

◦ Collaborate with program staff to coordinate activities, field trips, and special events

◦ Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and preparedness

◦ Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times

Experience & Qualifications

◦ Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field (preferred)

◦ Teaching certification (preferred but not required for summer program)

◦ Experience working with children in grades 1-2 or similar age groups

◦ Strong classroom management and communication skills

◦ Demonstrated ability to integrate faith into teaching practices

◦ Alignment with the mission and values of the faith-based program

The successful incumbent must:

◦ Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 5-7 hours per day)

◦ Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (eg., classroom supplies, student materials)

◦ Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching to assist students and manage classroom activities

◦ Ability to actively participate in indoor and outdoor activities, including recess and field trips

•Ability to respond quickly to ensure student safety in a variety of environments.

Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to supervise children and maintain a safe classroom
