Excelligent LLC is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to support a major ERP modernization initiative at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This role supports a large-scale enterprise transformation effort involving the migration of core business systems from Oracle to SAP. The program impacts finance, human resources, procurement, supply chain, integrations, reporting, data platforms, and enterprise IT operations across the laboratory environment.
We are looking for a technically credible project manager who can operate effectively across complex IT organizations, maintain alignment between technical and business stakeholders, and independently drive execution across multiple workstreams. This is not a purely administrative project management role. The ideal candidate should possess enough technical understanding to engage meaningfully with architects, infrastructure teams, application teams, data teams, vendors, system integrators, PMO personnel, and business organizations while maintaining ownership of project execution, coordination, risk management, and delivery tracking.
Responsibilities
• Lead planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and closeout activities for ERP modernization IT workstream projects
• Coordinate work across IT organizations, business stakeholders, vendors, system integrators, PMO personnel, Organizational Change Management teams, and ERP program leadership
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, procurement, communications, risks, issues, dependencies, deliverables, change control, and stakeholder expectations
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, work packages, milestones, resource plans, risk registers, issue logs, action trackers, decision logs, and status reports
• Support technical workstreams involving SAP S/4HANA, integrations, interfaces, data platforms, infrastructure dependencies, enterprise applications, testing coordination, environment readiness, and technical readiness
• Track vendor and system integrator deliverables, coordinate technical dependencies, and support formal review and acceptance of project work products
• Facilitate project meetings and working sessions, document outcomes, and ensure follow-through on assigned actions and decisions
• Identify risks early, recommend mitigation strategies, escalate issues appropriately, and support corrective action planning
• Translate complex technical information into clear project status, risks, actions, and decisions for technical and non-technical audiences
• Support alignment between technical execution, operational priorities, governance expectations, cybersecurity requirements, and program objectives
• Recommend practical improvements to project management practices, reporting, coordination, and delivery processes
• Treat safety and security as a primary responsibility; maintain required training and exercise judgment to pause or stop work if continuing poses a safety risk or security concern
Required Qualifications
IT Project Management Experience
• Extensive experience managing complex IT projects through the full project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closeout
• Demonstrated ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, dependencies, deliverables, change control, and stakeholder expectations ERP, SAP, Data, and Integration Experience
• Experience supporting ERP implementation, migration, or modernization efforts
• Working knowledge of SAP environments, enterprise applications, data platforms, integrations, interfaces, APIs, reporting, infrastructure dependencies, and related IT workstreams
• Technical acumen sufficient to understand complex ERP, data, infrastructure, application, and integration discussions
Cross-Functional and Stakeholder Coordination
• Experience coordinating across IT, finance, HR, procurement, supply chain, cybersecurity, vendors, system integrators, PMO personnel, OCM teams, and business stakeholders
• Ability to engage effectively with technical teams, ask informed questions, identify gaps, and maintain alignment across workstreams
• Ability to build effective working relationships with customers, technical teams, suppliers, leadership, and stakeholders
Vendor and Integrator Management
• Experience working with vendors or system integrators, including tracking third-party deliverables, coordinating technical dependencies, and supporting review and acceptance of project work products
PMO and Program Governance
• Experience working within a Program Management Office or supporting PMO governance, project controls, and executive-level status reporting
Independent Execution
• Proven ability to independently track down information, resolve ambiguity, drive accountability, and move complex work to completion
• Strong written, verbal, and listening skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 12 years of relevant experience preferred
• Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience may be considered
• Experience must be directly related to senior-level IT project management, ERP modernization, enterprise transformation, or complex technical program delivery
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA implementation, migration, or modernization projects
• Experience supporting Oracle-to-SAP transformation initiatives
• Experience with Databricks, SAP Business Data Cloud, ERP data conversion, analytics, reporting, integrations, APIs, or technical architecture workstreams
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Certified Scrum Master or SAFe Scrum Master certification
• Technical certifications relevant to enterprise IT, ERP systems, cloud platforms, data platforms, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or application environments
• Experience coordinating with Organizational Change Management teams on stakeholder engagement, communications, training, or readiness activities
• Experience supporting enterprise transformation programs involving finance, HR, procurement, supply chain, or other core business functions
• Experience in a highly regulated, federal, or national laboratory environment
• Understanding of federal procurement, financial management, cybersecurity, compliance, or IT governance requirements
• Active DOE Q clearance or prior cleared environment experience
Work Environment
• Hybrid role with primarily remote or offsite work and periodic onsite support at Los Alamos National Laboratory
• Candidates may reside outside New Mexico but must be located within the United States
• Standard 40-hour work week; 9/80 or 5/8 schedule options
• No on-call responsibilities
Compensation
• Target W2 compensation range: $175,000–$225,000 annually
• 1099 arrangements may be considered for highly qualified candidates
