Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and resourceful Buyer to support the procurement of products, materials, and services for U.S. Government and commercial contracts. This position will be responsible for sourcing commercial off-the-shelf products, military equipment, electronic components, drone/UAS systems, communications equipment, and other specialized items.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced defense contracting environment where responsiveness, accuracy, cost competitiveness, and customer satisfaction are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Research & Management

  • Identify, research, evaluate, and develop relationships with potential suppliers.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships to support current and future procurement needs.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, pricing, availability, and reliability.

Pricing & Negotiation

  • Obtain and compare supplier quotes to identify competitive pricing.
  • Analyze pricing, terms, availability, and lead times.
  • Negotiate pricing and procurement terms to achieve cost-effective purchasing outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved supplier performance.

Customer Bid & Quoting Support

  • Quickly obtain supplier quotes and product information to support customer bids.
  • Analyze supplier costs and provide accurate pricing estimates.
  • Ensure quoted products and services meet customer specifications and requirements.
  • Support timely responses to customer procurement requests.

Database & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records, sourcing documentation, contracts, quotes, and procurement records.
  • Maintain supplier databases and related purchasing information.
  • Ensure documentation is organized and readily accessible.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal teams to understand procurement requirements and develop effective sourcing strategies.
  • Coordinate with operations, sales, business development, and other departments as needed.
  • Communicate sourcing updates, pricing, availability, and potential issues effectively.

Supplier & Order Issue Resolution

  • Address supplier-related issues and work toward timely resolutions.
  • Monitor orders to help ensure products are delivered on time and meet quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding shortages, delays, substitutions, and other procurement concerns.

Market & Supply Chain Analysis

  • Monitor market conditions, pricing fluctuations, product availability, and supply chain trends.
  • Identify potential procurement risks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Research alternative suppliers and hard-to-find or obsolete components when necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or a related field.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to analyze pricing, market conditions, and supply chain trends.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other procurement or sourcing software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting U.S. Government, military, aerospace, or defense contracts.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP purchasing systems.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of DLA and military supply chain operations.
  • Experience researching NSNs and CAGE Codes.
  • Familiarity with DIBBS and SAM.gov.
  • Experience sourcing electronic components.
  • Experience with drone/UAS systems and accessories.
  • Familiarity with communications and tactical equipment.
  • Experience with international sourcing and import/export documentation.
  • Knowledge of shipping and logistics coordination.
  • Experience sourcing obsolete, discontinued, or hard-to-find components.
