We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic construction company. This role is pivotal in managing the financial health of the organization and ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting and will work closely with the President to support decision-making and drive financial efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

· General Accounting & Financial Reporting

· Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

· Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions.

· Reconcile bank accounts, vendor statements, and intercompany accounts.

· Job Costing & Project Accounting

· Track and report job costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses.

· Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost allocation and budget adherence.

· Monitor project profitability and provide variance analysis.

· Accounts Payable & Receivable · Oversee invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.

· Ensure timely and accurate billing for construction projects.

· Manage lien waivers and compliance documentation.

· Payroll & Benefits

· Coordinate payroll processing and ensure compliance with labor laws.

· Assist with benefits administration and employee expense reimbursements.

· Compliance & Audit

· Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies.

· Prepare documentation for audits and liaise with external auditors.

· Strategic Support · Provide financial insights and recommendations to the President.

· Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

· Support strategic initiatives and process improvements.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

· Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.

· Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction billing.

· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks,).

· Experience with Accounts in Sage and Procore is a plus.

· Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with project management tools.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
